About the shop

L&C Cabinetry builds and fits cabinetry in Virginia Beach. Cabinet work is a trade where the difference between good and bad is measured in millimetres and shows up every single day — in a door that does not sit flush, a drawer that catches, a run of uppers that is a quarter inch out of level across a wall.

Most houses are not square. Walls bow, floors slope, and corners are rarely ninety degrees. Stock cabinetry ordered from a catalogue assumes otherwise, which is why so many kitchens end up with filler strips and gaps stuffed with caulk. Building to the room instead of to a specification is slower, and it is the entire point.

What we do

Kitchen cabinetry
Built and fitted to the actual room, including the corners and out-of-level walls that stock units cannot accommodate.
Bathroom vanities
Sized to the space available rather than the nearest standard width, with plumbing cutouts made to fit what is already in the wall.
Built-ins and shelving
Bookcases, window seats, mudroom benches and the awkward alcove that no piece of furniture has ever fitted.
Closets and storage
Interiors designed around what you actually own, rather than a generic rail-and-shelf arrangement.
Refacing and door replacement
Where the carcasses are sound, new doors and fronts transform a kitchen for a fraction of a full replacement.
Countertop coordination
Cabinetry built to template properly so the countertop fabricator has something square and level to work from.

How it works

  1. Measure the real room

Every wall, every corner, every out-of-plumb stud. This is where a cabinet job is won or lost, long before anything is cut.

  2. Agree the layout and materials

Door style, finish, hardware and how the interior is divided up — drawers where drawers make sense rather than doors everywhere.

  3. Build and fit

Cabinets built, then fitted, scribed and levelled to the room. The fitting is what makes it look built-in rather than installed.

Questions people ask

Is custom cabinetry much more expensive than stock?

Less than most people assume, particularly once the fillers, modifications and compromises stock requires are priced in. Call and describe the room for a realistic conversation.

How long does a kitchen take?

It depends on the size and the materials. You will be given a realistic timeframe including the build, not just the fitting week.

Can you match existing cabinets?

Often, yes, depending on the style and finish. Send a photograph or bring a door in.

Do you do countertops too?

Ask when you call — the cabinetry is built so a countertop fabricator has a square, level base to template from.

What are your hours?
