Paxton Roofing

Roofs built for a Tidewater nor'easter — repaired, replaced and inspected by a local crew you can actually reach.

About the shop

A straight answer about your roof, from a roofer in Isle of Wight.

Paxton Roofing works out of the Isle of Wight Industrial Park in Smithfield and covers homes across Western Tidewater and the Peninsula — Smithfield, Carrollton, Suffolk, Windsor and the roads between. It is a local crew, not a call center: the person who quotes the job is the person responsible for it.

This coast is hard on a roof. Nor'easters drive rain sideways under shingles, August heat cooks the sealant strips, and a single missing tab over the bathroom vent turns into a ceiling stain by the next storm. Most of what Paxton does is the practical work that keeps that from happening: honest inspections, tight repairs, and full replacements installed to the manufacturer's spec so the warranty holds.

What we do

Services

Roofing work across Isle of Wight and Western Tidewater. Not sure what you are looking at? Call and describe it.

01

Roof replacement

Full tear-off, deck inspection, ice-and-water at the eaves and valleys, and architectural shingles installed to spec. You get a written scope before anyone climbs a ladder.

02

Storm and wind damage

Lifted tabs, missing shingles, torn ridge caps and punctures from tree limbs. Documented with photos so an insurance claim goes through without a fight.

03

Leak repair

Finding where the water actually gets in — usually a boot, a flashing joint or a nail pop, not the spot where the stain shows up. Fixed at the source.

04

Flashing, vents and chimneys

Step flashing, counter-flashing, pipe boots and vent caps. The small metal parts are where most roofs fail first, and where a repair is cheapest.

05

Gutters and drip edge

Water that comes off the roof has to go somewhere. Drip edge, gutter repairs and downspout extensions that keep it away from the foundation.

06

Inspections and estimates

Buying or selling a house, or just not sure what shape the roof is in? A plain-language report on what needs attention now, what can wait and what is fine.

How it works

From the first call to the finished job.

STEP 1

Call and describe it

A leak, a storm, a roof you are not sure about. You get a real read on urgency and a time for someone to come look.

STEP 2

Inspection and written scope

The roof is walked, photographed and explained. You get a written estimate that says exactly what is being done and with what materials.

STEP 3

The work, cleaned up

The crew shows up when it says it will, protects the landscaping, magnets the yard for nails and walks the finished roof with you.

Good to know

Questions people ask before they call.

How do I know if I need a repair or a whole new roof?

Age, how many layers are on it, and how widespread the damage is. A ten-year-old roof with a few lifted tabs gets repaired. A twenty-year-old roof with granule loss across every slope is money better spent on replacement. You will be told which, with photos.

Will you work with my insurance company?

Yes. Storm damage gets documented properly the first time — dated photos, measurements and a written scope — so the adjuster has what they need.

How long does a replacement take?

Most single-family homes are one to two days once materials are on site, weather permitting. You will get a start date and a realistic finish.

Do you cover my area?

Smithfield, Carrollton, Suffolk, Windsor and Isle of Wight County are home base. Call for anything in the surrounding Hampton Roads area.

Are estimates free?

Call to ask about an inspection — you will get a straight answer on cost before anyone comes out.
